The ASVAB general science test covers many different topic areas. As a ‘general science’ test, you are not required to cover any topic in intense detail. Instead, you are required to have a shallow, but thorough understanding of each topic.
The subjects you are expected to know include:
The best way to prepare for the exam is to practice as many ASVAB general science practice questions as you can.
The more questions you practice, the greater understanding you have not only of your areas of strength, but more importantly, your areas of weakness. You can then focus your study around those weaker topics and maximize your result in exam day.
For the CAT-ASVAB, you have 8 minutes to answer 16 questions – or 30 seconds per question. That doesn’t give you much time to think through and work out the answer.
Instead, it often comes down to whether you know the general science fact, or whether you don’t.
Below, we review some ASVAB general science practice questions – giving you a clear idea of the topics covered as well as the level of detail you are expected to cover.
We’ve put together sample ASVAB science questions on biology, earth science and physics. Have a go at each question and, at the end, we learn which answer is correct and why.
